Ryan McAllister turns Valga High School into a little Scotland and invites pupils to some haggis

Valga High School library turned into a miniature version of Scotland on 25th January, with its very own celebration of Burns´ Night. Our English language assistant, Scotsman Ryan McAllister, invited all the 3rd and 4th year students to try that most famous of Scottish dishes, haggis. During the event, which was organised by Bilingual Section coordinator and English teacher Marie-France Mayán, the participants heard Robert Burns´ “Ode to a Haggis” and sang “Auld Lang Syne”. Funnily enough, Burns´ Night is also Ryan´s birthday and the pupils made the most of the occasion by singing him “Happy Birthday” –cake, candle, presents and all. These type of activities are part of the Bilingual Section´s policy of bringing British languages and cultures to life in a fun way for the young people of Valga.
