Around the 31st of October

This is supposed to be a magical time when all kinds of horrible creatures come to frighten you. How did it all start? Of course, we do not know. Your teacher is old... but not that old.

turnipPeople sometimes celebrate rites unconciously. Apparently what we are celebrating under the name of Samhain or Halloween is the star of the winter. Celebrations of the winter solstice have spread from the beginning of November till the end of February, with the celebration of carnival.

So, sometimes we can have the same elements in a different time, for example you disguise in Halloween and in Carnival. Other times we have the same elements with different ingredients. Pumkins are used to put a light in some places, but in many places in Galicia it was turnip which was used to light a candle.
