Science experiment: Cork Floating on Water

The "Tigers" did another science experiment.

This rising water experiment is easy and so fun!

MATERIALS:

Plate

Water

Cork

Glass

Paint (optional)

We placed a cork on a plate and filled it with water, we used paint to turn the water different colors.

We watched what happened. The cork floats in the water.

Now we placed the glass over the cork and...

INCREDIBLE! the cork sinks and there is no water surrounding it!

Glass and Water Experiment: Why Does Water Rise?

The " Tigers" were amazed by this fun science experiment.

You need: water, food coloring (optional), plate, container, candle

1. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring or paint to the water. This will make the movement of the water easier to see later.

2. Pour the colored water into the plate.

3. Set the candle straight up in the center of the plate.

4. Light the candle.

5. Turn the container over and lower it over the burning candle. At first, the candle stays burning and the water level rises slowly. About the time the candle goes out, the water rises quickly. This is the mystery: why does it rise?

Come on and try it at home!

The best part is that you'll likely want to repeat it several times.

Apple Pie Recipe

Pete the Cat: I Love my White Shoes

In English class we read the book :

"I Love my White Shoes" by Eric Litwin

In the story, Pete gets new white shoes. However, he steps in four different things on his walk that change how his shoes look! But no matter what happens, Pete doesn’t get upset and he keeps on walking and singing!

After, we did this fun activity that helped children retell the story. We used plastic bins filled with red paint, blue paint, brown paint and a bucket of water.

we lined them up and placed paper underneath. The students walked with their painted feet onto the  paper and created art.

So much fun!

We then celebrated with a Pete the Cat Party!

we had mud (chocolate) sandwiches with berries and blueberries just like the things Pete stepped in.

DELICIOUS!
