American Breakfast 2013

On Monday January 14th our 5th graders prepared a traditional American Breakfast. The menu included scrambled eggs, fried bacon, freshly squeezed orange juice, toast, cereal and more! The children all brought something from home to contribute to the feast. After splitting into teams each group of students prepared one of the items.Whether it was setting the table, making the juice, or toasting the toast it was a group effort to make such a yummy meal. Quickly a delicious aroma filled the room and everyone sat down to enjoy the food after all their hard work.

Juicy bacon sizzling on the stove, scrambled eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, Choco crunch cereals, buttered toast- all staples of the traditional all-american breakfast. And all present at Abanqueiro school on a unique  Thursday morning in January. As part of their unit on foods and nutrition in Teacher Fran´s English class, the 5th grade class joined together to cook an American breakfast to enhance their learning of the foods in English, and also to experience a typical meal from an English-speaking country. All cooking and eating took place in the lunch room at Abanqueiro.
