Erasmus Policy Statement (Overall Strategy)

CIFP Valentín Paz Andrade is a high vocational and training school working in different technical fields like Metal
Construction, Motor Vehicles,Thermal and Fluid Installations Maintenance,Energy Efficiency and Solar Thermal Energy,
Furniture and Design,Mechanical Manufacture Design and Renewable Energies. As a high educational institution engaged  in the quality management process, one of our objectives is to promote the students and staff mobility abroad. This  participation in international projects is recorded in our strategy and annual plan to improve their proffesional and linguistic  abilities as well as to help students  become more independent, autonomous and respectful with other cultures.
The  mobilities we have been carrying out since 2008 within the Erasmus frame consist of sending our higher technicians for
their three-month placement to different countries such as Malta,Italy, United Kindom, Ireland Finland and Germany. The
partners have been selected taking into account the students interests like to improve their language skills, get to know the
work methods of the enterprises in those countries, learn about the industry related to their studies and recently, the main
objective is to widen their chances to get a job in those countries, taking into account the current economical situation in our
own country .Concerning this objective, we have established a cooperation between our school and the town hall of
Osnäbruck in Germany to find suitable enterprises for our students to do their internship with the aim of getting a job once
they have finished and they get their school Certificate to become qualified higher technicians. We have discussed and
agreed the training agreements with the host enterprises in advance. The accommodation provided is in host families so
that the students can improve their German and integrate in their everyday life, getting to know their culture and costumes.
We have also developed an agreement with the university there, so that they provide linguistic and cultural preparation in
our own country one year previous to mobility sending their German students of Spanish to teach German to our students
while they do their own placement in a Spanish speaking country.
We have also established colaborations with Vocational schools in Finland through the participation in longlife learning
programmes like Leonardo Da Vinci. These schools help find suitable enterprises for our Erasmus students, organise
accommodation and supervise the signing of Training Agreements.
Another target group for our mobilities is staff for receiving training in different enterprises related to the subjects they
teach. These mobilities have been very productive not only because they learn techniques to put into practise and
beneficial for all the students and academic staff, but also because they can find out which  the most suitable enterprises
for the student training mobility are, they can check the different work methods to try to adjust our curricula to the demands
of the workplace and discuss and agree the training agreements as well as visit the students at their work placements and
ensure the quality of mobilities and progress of students.
Our strategy plans not only to continue with these colaborations but also to improve them after evaluating results at the end
of each period to make this cooperation wider and sustainable.
We also intend to try to broaden our contacts and increase the number of partners, countries and mobilities.
STRATEGY FOR THE ORGANISATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECTS
Our Institution has a Department of Quality and Innovation, where the coordinator of International programmes together
with the coordinator of relation with enterprises promote the participation in improvement and innovaton projects with other
educational Institutions as well as enterprises belonging to productive sectors of our profesional fields. This strategy of
international cooperation is based on three performance lines: looking for partners for this cooperation outside our borders,
establishing contacts to carry out projects together and looking for funding which allows to the actual implementation of the
projects. The main objectives for that performance are to improve language skills of participants so that they can get in
touch with other participants in HEI,  enterprises, private and public organizations and foreign administrations; to promote
contacts through web page, to take part in international meetings held by attendants from participating and non-
participating countries.

The participation in the Programme is part of our strategy for the modernisationand internationalisation of our Institution.
The impact we expect to achieve is to increase the number of student mobility for placements, so that they carry out in a satisfactory
way their on-the -job learning module,  and they can acquirethe professional competences required to increase their chances to get a job
incountries where the market is demanding qualified  technicians.
They will also adapt todifferent labour markets, get to know different ways of working in different production sectors, improving their CV.
They will improve their linguistic competences  and respect for other cultures.
Their mobility will be recognized with ECTs credits in the same way as other countries. All these outcomes will contribute
to create qualified graduates to cover the needs of Europe, as well as to improve the importance and quality of higher education.
Training agreements will be discussed and agreed between our Institution and the host enterprises, which will create a better understanding
of both organisations.
By staff mobility, we will increase cooperation among high educational institutions and enterprises; We intend to promote collaboration not
only with foreign enterprises but also with enterprises in our own country to receive foreign students who can give their own  insight and knowledge.
Our institution will also benefit of this staff  mobility since participants will present and put into practice new techniques and different methodologies.
By participating in projects of international cooperation between higher institutions or with enterprises we intend to fulfill the following objectives:
the students will get to know social and professional situations in participating and non-participating countries; we will estaclish permanent ways of
communication with foreign countries to transfer knowledge; we will take part in the elaboration of learning material and educational resources to
improve teaching and learning; improvement of foreign languages to widen chances of finding a job; learning more effective  techniques  and new
methodologies; using new technologies; Reaching economical agreements with enterprises or private institutions to improve governance and funding.
