WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the U.S. every year on the fourth Thursday in November. This year students made "hand turkeys", a classic Thanksgiving craft. Some students made classic "hand turkeys" while others chose to make "hand trees". First students traced their hands on a piece of paper. In the center of the hand they wrote, "I'm thankful for" and then wrote one thing on each finger for which they were thankful. Examples included "family", "friends", "peace", and "love". Then students either decorated each finger with different color feathers, if they made a turkey, or leaves, if they made a tree. Thanksgiving is a time for us to remember what we are thankful for and this activity helped students to do just that. Students then displayed their finished turkeys and trees in the school hallway.
This project was planned and led by Dolores García Rodríguez, English teacher, and Kristen Fraley, Language Assistant.
